Software offerings

Software at the TU Delft is available through several platforms to accommodate your needs.
This page provides information on how software is made available from TU Delft.

For TU managed and bring-your-own devices, you can use:

  • software.tudelft.nl: Software portal for private computers but likewise for TU managed systems. You will find information about the software, instructions, licenses and the rules for private use.

  • weblogin.tudelft.nl > Desktop: Access software through the Desktop app. The Desktop app is included with Windows 10 and cannot be managed (no administrator access).

On TU managed devices you can find the following application libraries:

  • Software Center (Windows 10): Browse, download and install available software directly from the Software Center.
  • Company Portal (Windows 11): Browse, download and install available software directly from the Company Portal.
  • Self Service App on MacOS: Browse, download and install available software using the Self Service app.
  • Linux devices: For Linux, we do not have an application library. However, Linux users can use the application server, where the most commonly used software is available. Before you can access this application server, you need to create a support ticket so that the Linux team can make is available.

If the software you need is not available, you can request it through the ICT Service desk.

When software is not supplied by TU Delft:

  • In addition to the software supplied by TU Delft, on Apple, Linux or Windows systems you can also use software from the Microsoft Store or the Apple (App) Store, respectively. Bear in mind that TU Delft does not pay for software from the Store and that support is not provided by TU Delft.
  • At  https://www.surfspot.nl/ (log in with NetID) you can buy software at a discount for your personal computer.
  • Azure Dev Tools for Teaching: At  https://Aka.ms/type3 students and staff can log in with NetID and password to legally download and use development software at no cost. Students can further develop their coding skills through free online learning courses, technology contests, and tutorials.

See also  SoftwareFinder (tudelft.nl) to find TU Delft software or third-party apps for research, work or study. SoftwareFinder provides a good overview but is not quite complete.
