Eduroam Wifi at Universities and the use of the Get Eduroam app

Eduroam (Education Roaming) is a global WiFi network specifically designed for students, staff, and researchers at universities and educational institutions. It provides a secure and easy way to access the internet worldwide at campuses, educational institutions, and other participating locations. Once you are connected to Eduroam at your own university, you can automatically and securely use the same network when visiting another participating institution, without needing to re-enter your login credentials.

Using the Get Eduroam app

To make logging in and connecting to the Eduroam network even easier, there is the Get Eduroam app, available for Windows, Android, iOS/iPadOS and Linux devices (Not compatible with MacOS). The app helps users quickly and easily connect to the Eduroam network, without the hassle of manual settings or configurations.

Benefits of the Get Eduroam app:

  • Simple Configuration: The Get Eduroam app automates the configuration process, allowing you to apply the correct settings to connect to Eduroam effortlessly. This means you don’t have to manually enter login credentials or security settings.
  • Security: The app ensures that your connection is made through secure protocols, keeping your data protected from unauthorized access. This is crucial, especially when connecting to a public network on a campus or other location.
  • Automatic Updates: The app automatically keeps your settings up to date, so you are always connected to the most recent and secure version of the Eduroam network.
  • International Access: Thanks to Eduroam, you can connect to WiFi networks of other participating institutions in many countries worldwide. The Get Eduroam app ensures that these connections run smoothly, wherever you are.
  • Support for Multiple Institutions: If you have access to Eduroam through multiple educational institutions (for example, a university and a research institute), you can easily switch between different institutions and their associated login credentials through the app.
