Citrix will no longer be available as of January 2026. The phase-out process is currently underway and will continue throughout 2025. As part of this transition, Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel) within Citrix will already be discontinued as of September 2025.
We are actively exploring alternatives for the known Citrix use cases (see table below). Updates will be published regularly on the intranet.
When should you take action?
Please contact ict-servicedesk@tudelft.nl if one of the following applies to you:
- You use Citrix for purposes not listed below – we’d like to discuss possible alternatives.
- You are a MacOS or Linux user – we are mapping use cases and want to understand how you use Citrix.
- You encounter issues in Citrix, such as applications no longer being available.
Known use cases

Virtual desktop with legacy applications | Virtual workplace providing access to a desktop with specific legacy applications. |
Access remote server via published RDP client | Log in to a TU Delft server remotely, typically used by system and application administrators. |
Access remote workplace via published RDP | Remote access to a TU Delft-hosted workstation, used by students and teaching staff. |
Access on-premises web app via browser | Secure access to internal web applications (e.g. Osiris) via a virtual browser. |
TU Delft users on MacOS or Linux | Use of Citrix to access Windows-only applications. |
What’s next?
In the coming period, Citrix desktops will be updated with a new background that includes ICT Service Desk contact details. This is part of the preparations for the full phase-out.
