Odido has announced that it will gradually phase out the legacy 3G (UMTS/HSPA) network technology. This will free up capacity for the continued development of the 4G and 5G networks.

At this time, no final switch-off date has been announced. Odido has stated that customers will be informed at least six months in advance before 3G services are permanently discontinued.

What does this mean for you?

If you use equipment that relies exclusively on 3G connectivity, it is important to identify these devices in time. Once 3G is retired, these devices will no longer be able to connect through the Odido mobile network.

This may affect:

  • Older mobile phones
  • Routers and modems
  • IoT and M2M (Machine-to-Machine) devices
  • Monitoring and control systems
  • Devices using a 097x data subscription

Check Your Equipment

To remain connected, Odido recommends verifying that your devices support 4G and/or 5G. Any equipment that only supports 3G will eventually need to be replaced.

If you have devices that use a 097x number (data-only subscriptions), please pay special attention to these systems and ensure they are compatible with 4G or 5G connectivity.

Do I Need to Take Action Now?

No. Nothing changes immediately, and 3G services remain operational for now. However, we recommend reviewing your devices and identifying any equipment that may still depend on 3G so that replacement can be planned well in advance. If you identify any devices that rely on 3G, please contact the ICT Servicedesk as soon as possible so that a replacement can be arranged in time.
